Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026
This page explains what ThumbLit does with the data it touches. The short version: thumbnails and settings are stored locally in your browser, and there is no account system or marketing tracking.
1. Thumbnails and backgrounds
When you upload thumbnails or background images, they are processed in your browser and stored in local browser storage (IndexedDB and localStorage). They are not uploaded to a remote server as part of normal use of the app.
Because storage is local to your browser, clearing your browser data or using a different device or browser will remove or not include your saved thumbnails.
2. Settings and usage data
ThumbLit stores a small amount of configuration in localStorage (for example: theme preference, zoom level, shuffle seed, and which thumbnail is active). This information is used only to make the app more convenient for you and is not sent to a backend.
The app does not intentionally collect personally identifiable information. If you deploy ThumbLit behind your own hosting, your host may collect standard server logs (such as IP address and user agent); that is separate from the app itself.
3. Third parties and analytics
In its current form, ThumbLit does not include third‑party analytics scripts or advertising trackers. If this changes in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated and the change will be documented.
4. Future changes
If new features are added that require a backend service, user accounts, or payments, this policy will be updated to describe what is stored and why. Continued use of the app after those changes will mean you accept the updated policy.
5. Contact
If you have questions about privacy or data handling in ThumbLit, you can open an issue or discussion on the project's GitHub repository.
